How it works

From your account to their wallet.

You are in the United States. They are in Jamaica or the Caribbean. This is the order the app follows. Nothing moves until you confirm the review screen.

  1. 1

    Open the account

Sign up with email and phone. Each one gets a 6-digit code. Then make a PIN. FamLink does not create a wallet until both codes are confirmed. The country you choose at signup is the wallet you get.

  2. 2

    Add someone at home

Invite them from your contacts, or with a phone number or email. Set a monthly spending limit for that person. The limit is a cap on what they can spend. It is not a balance that disappears at month end.

  3. 3

Add money, then review the send

Load the wallet by card or by bank transfer. When you send, the review screen shows the amount, the exchange rate, the fee, and what they receive. You confirm with your PIN. That quote is the one that applies.

  4. 4

They use it. You see the payment.

The money is in their FamLink wallet. They can spend it, pay a shop that takes FamLink, cash out to a bank, or collect cash where an agent is listed. You get a note when they pay. That note does not charge your wallet again. A bank payout waits until identity verification is complete.

After the money is there

What both of you can count on.

The cash stays

Whatever they do not spend remains in the wallet. A new month reopens the limit. It does not clear the balance.

A warning near the end

When about 10% of that person’s monthly allowance is left, you and they are both notified, while there is still room to talk.

A message in the same app

You can write to them next to the money. Help in the app is available in English and Creole.
